Textured aircraft render by senor-freebie Textured aircraft render by senor-freebie
This is a render of the aircraft I modelled and textured while working for Point of Existence as well as one from before-hand.

These models are not to scale as I did not have the internet at home to check their actual size. I suspect I got them as close as I could by guess work but from the looks of it the J-10 is a little off

From top left clockwise:

Tu-22M3, Russian super-sonic theatre bomber, under 6,000 tris, 2x1024x1024 textures

AN-32, Russian paradropping aircraft, under 6,000 tris, 1x1024x1024, 2x512x512 textures

Su-39, Russian close air support aircraft, under 5,000 tris, 1x1024x1024 texture

J-10, Chinese light multi purpose fighter, under 4,000 tris, 1x1024x1024 texture

Su-39, Same as above with alternative texture / camouflage pattern

J-11, Russian designed, Chinese Air Force multi purpose fighter, under 5,000 tris, 1x1024x1024, 1x512x512 textures

Su-34, Russian light strike aircraft, under 6,000 tris, 1x1024x1024, 1x512x512, 2x256x256 textures

That was a fictional Su-30MKK4 ... an MKI standard MKK.

Originally that model was intended to be a fictional Su-30MKK4. The Su-30 series has been upgraded to include canard wings in the Indian Air Force and I thought in the scenario that was made for, that China would eventually opt to do this as well. I was right about the canards. Wrong about the naming convention.

Excellent work. Even though the models are relatively low-poly the texturing is really good and makes them look very realistic. Thumbs up.

37 then :3 Love the sleek look of the Suhkoi, moreso than the F-22, and i loved that plane for a long time.

I personally always found the 30 more sleek looking. The seams where the cockpit meats the leading edge on the other models is quite sharp on all the other models.

Sorry, i meant the 35, not the 37, I always call that one the 47, but its really a tie between the 37 superflanker and the 27 flanker. But youre right, the 30 does look sleeker.

The 47 is the forward swept wings prototype the Russians built in the 90's. The 35 is really the super flanker. The 37 was merely a number they used to define the thrust vectoring original 35 as different. In fact the modern 35, in production now is more advanced then the original 37, hence Su-35BM.

I'm SOOOO jealous...

I'm having trouble texturing anything at the moment, and the one or two times I've tried modeling aircraft took me forever. your stuff looks wonderful.

Have you learnt how to unwrap logically? To texture the way you see on these aircraft I pretty much just stare at reference images and paint some tileable detail patterns which I colour and paint and place. These were fairly basic and I have to admit crappy textures compared to what I do now but the simple side of it is use layers of detail and colour on your mapping.

Awesome, I just love the modelling and details.

However, I think there's a little mistake in the aircraft descriptions. you mentioned the Su-34 as a "light" strike aircraft. Actually, It's a deep strike, or interdictor, designed to penetrate heavy air defenses.

Hope you don't mind.

You're correct on the Su-34 but in terms of weight class for an air to ground aircraft it is pretty light ^_^
Its certainly no Tu-160

How did you make the models? Maya or other program? Nurbs, Polygons or curves? Just want some tips, I am new to model making.

3D Studios MAX 7 or 8. I used Polygons mostly as its game art and thats all that is relevant there but curves do come in handy every so often.

I think you have made a wee mistake in the numbers.

the plane to the right of the bomber is an SU-34 [link]
the one next to it is either and SU-27 or and SU-35 [link] and [link] both look damn near identical

Incorrect. It is the J-11 which is the Chinese designation for an Su-27 or Su-30 modified to Chinese specifications. I mention the Su-34 at the end.

Tis ok ... there is some confusion because Chinese J-11's have not been spotted with canards afaik and while I've got the correct camo patterns and insignias on that aircraft to correspond with a PLA Naval Aviation Su-30MKK3 the actual shape is closer to an Su-30MKI (the most advanced Flanker) or an Su-33/5/7 the Russian models with canards.

superb renders, textures and models...huge texture spaces though...but anyway, only criticism would be the tiled tarmac, would look so much nicer with a better ground texture...but congrats on getting a DD :)
